Grades 7 and 8

Course descriptions and expectations for students in grades 7 and 8

Students in grades 7 and 8 follow lessons in the traditional core courses along with specific study skills within each discipline. This includes the teaching of organizational skills and time management, proper use of a textbook, study skills, listening and note-taking skills, research skills, reading for meaning, concentration and distractions, and the mechanics of writing and preparing for tests and examinations. It also includes basic instruction and set up of each student’s MacBook laptop* and the use of organizational and word processing applications.

The laptop will remain the property of TPS and TPS will provide basic technical support during the student’s time at TPS. Upon graduation, the student may keep the laptop for their own personal use.

Grade 7 Program

  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Introduction to Computers and Music
  • Fine Arts (Visual Arts and Drama)
  • Physical Education
  • English Literature
  • French/Spelling Grammar
  • Social Studies (Geography and History)

Students who have obtained exemption from French will be offered Spelling Grammar as a substitute. 

Grade 8 Program
